A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I was born in a far away time in a far away land called Australia. Some folk consider us upside down but of course that is not true. We just sit nicely on the curve of the earth knowing today what will happen in your tomorrow. Obviously not true but being 9.5 hours ahead of GMT can make you feel that way. And of course in the Northern Hemisphere your seasons are back to front.

Our language is our own. It seems the same as English and American but of course we all have our differences. For example we do not have dowitchits but you will always be greeted with a friendly "G'day Mate. Sometimes you might be a stupid Galah. This expression is taken from the bird of the same name which flies south in the winter (This is considered silly thing to do in the Southern Hemisphere)

Home of the kangaroo, koala, kookaburra, magpie, platypus, wombat and spiny anteater.

My very favourite Australian animal is the Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler).

Our birds range from the tiny honeyeater to the giant flightless emu standing more than 6 feet tall. Two of my very favourite birds are the Magpie (which is my State bird - South Australia) and the Galah - the mad bird that flies south for the winter and has a raucous voice.

We have more species of venomous snakes than any other continent and our spiders are also among the world's most poisonous.

Our national flower is the Wattle from the Acacia tree (we have 700 species of Acacia). But to me you can't quite beat the Eucalypts - just ask the koala who spends his life stoned out of his mind on the leaves. The Eucalypts oil emissions also give the blue to our Blue Mountains in NSW.

Of course just like everybody with beautiful beaches, we claim that they are the best in the world.
